The goal of the game is to play all your cards. The last person with cards in their hand is a loser. The game begins when someone with the lowest-value trump card plays it. During the game, the player who plays a card first puts any card from their hand on the table. The next player must either play a higher card of the same suit or the same value of the trump card if the first card was a trump. If the first card wasn't a trump, it must be beaten by a higher card. Additionally, a trump card can only be beaten with a higher trump card. When playing matching fool, players can discard one or more cards of any suit if their value matches the value of any card that has been played so far in the current game.
